Buddhist Society of Australia

The Buddhist Society of Australia is a branch of Taiwan Buddhist of Society, founded by Venerable Grandmaster Bai Yun. The main purpose of this society is to support the propagation of Buddhism locally and overseas through activities such as Dharma talks, meditation classes and so forth. A portion of the membership fees also goes to Taiwan to help fund Venerable Grandmaster Bai Yun’s CD/DVD, Television Station and so forth.

Buddhist Society of Australia Statement of Purpose:

  1. To provide an opportunity to its members to participate in charitable activities and to enhance their compassion and understanding through organised charitable events.
  2. To provide financial assistance to the needy in the general community through organised fund raising events.
  3. To provide moral and spiritual support to the members of the general community through organised social events.
  4. To support the propagation of Buddhism
  5. To improve the spiritual well being of its members and supporters.

BSA Member’s benefits:

  1. A free Venerable Ch’an Master Bai Yun’s DVD for new members.
  2. Member will be blessed on their birth month.
  3. Member will receive a discount when purchasing books and up to date information on the latest books.
  4. Members will regularly receive a “Buddhist newsletter” with information about the latest activities.
  5. Members will be invited to join Buddhist classes such as Dharma talks, Meditation Classes and so forth.
  6. Members will receive life care and condolences from the Yun Yang Pure Land Practitioners.
  7. Visit Buddhist monasteries to make new friends and learn from one another.
  8. Participate in book discussion classes to discuss and share the meaning of life.
  9. Members will be invited to the end of year party and participate in the lucky draw.
  10. The society will be organise occasional pilgrim visits, outdoor gatherings and family outings.
  11. Members will be entitled to discounts for activities and the use of facilities.
  12. Enrich one’s life and cleanse the body and mind through spiritual and cultural activities and programs.

Additional Benefits (Moral and Spiritual Care):

  1. Chanting in private premises for blessing one’s home, birthdays and the newborn.
  2. Chanting to help the ill and sick at the temple, their homes and the hospital.
  3. Provide spiritual guidance and support for bereaved relatives.
  4. Provide transport when needed and any other assistance as required.
  5. Participate in the City of Casey’s Meals on Wheels.
  6. Provide members with an opportunity to participate in charitable activities and to enhance their compassion and understanding through organised charitable events.

BSA Member’s obligations:

Annual membership fee of $60.

A person generates good merits through practising generosity and supporting the temple. Besides material gains, there is also spiritual gain. What you sow is what you reap.
