Buddhism emphasizes the importance of filial piety not only when our parents are alive but also when they have passed on. When they are still alive, it is our duty to take care of them with loving kindness and introduce them to the wisdom found in the Buddha’s teachings. When our parents pass on, it is our duty to erect memorial tablets in the temple and offer them blessings through chanting and offerings.

Driven by devotion and compassion of our members, the Memorial Hall of Filial Piety has been established at Yun Yang Temple. Devotees are now able to make offerings to their ancestors’ spirits at the temple, a place where they are able to offer merits to their loved ones. The continuous chanting of Amitabha Buddha’s name and sutras in the Memorial Hall will enable our beloved departed parents to attain great merits and assist them to be reincarnated in the better realms. Offerings are also made at sunrise and sundown as well as on the first and fifteenth days of the lunar months. Major Dharma ceremonies are also performed on designated days which are devoted specifically to the deceased.
